Five thousand years ago Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appeared in Mathura as son of Vasudeva and Devaki. He performed wonderful pastimes for the pleasure of His devotees, killed the irreligious and established principles of religion. The divine appearance of Lord Krishna is celebrated as Sri Krishna Janmashtami, with great jubilation by billions of devotees across the world. It falls on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) in the month of Bhadra. The devotees observe this festival by keeping fast till midnight and offering varieties of festive services to the Deities.

At Hare Krishna Mandir, Ahmedabad, Janmashtami will be celebrated on Monday, 30th August, 2021. Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhav will be adorned in beautiful new attires. Constant performance of harinam sankirtan and cultural programs will mark the holy day. The festivities will include grand Maha-abhishekam (grand ceremonial bath) for Their Lordships, along with other delightful sevas like Jhulan seva and pleasure ride on Swarna-ratha (golden chariot). 108 varieties of food stuffs will be offered to the Deites and maha-mangala arati at midnight, marking the birth of Lord Krishna will be the prime event.
